Protecting Our Human Rights

Human rights are universal. Every person in California, including women and men, immigrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, children, seniors, people with disabilities, racial and religious minorities, low-income workers, and veterans, deserves dignity, equality, and protection under the law. These rights are not optional. They are guaranteed by the Constitution and our shared values.

As your State Senator, I will fight to ensure these rights are defended and expanded in every circumstance:

  • Equality and Non-Discrimination – Everyone deserves fair treatment in housing, employment, education, healthcare, and public life, regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, immigration status, age, or ability.

  • Safety and Protection – No one should face violence, harassment, exploitation, or unsafe conditions in their home, workplace, school, or community.

  • Freedom and Dignity – Every individual has the right to speak, worship, assemble, and live openly without fear. This includes LGBTQ+ individuals’ right to love and identify freely, immigrants’ right to due process, and women’s right to bodily autonomy.

  • Access to Opportunity – Every child, worker, and senior deserves quality education, economic opportunity, healthcare, and social support. People with disabilities and those from disadvantaged communities must have equal access to resources and accommodations.

  • Justice and Representation – The Constitution guarantees due process, equal protection under the law, and the right to vote. I will work to ensure that all Californians can participate fully in our democracy and receive fair treatment in the legal system.

  • Environmental and Community Rights – All Californians, especially communities disproportionately impacted by pollution or climate change, deserve a healthy and safe environment.

I will never throw anyone under the bus to placate the extreme elements of our society. If the rights of one person are trampled, the rights of all other people come under threat. This is non-negotiable.
